It’s a bit incongruous to have a topless equality parade in New York as it is perfectly legal for women to be topless in the city. But, who’s complaining.
There were a few topless women in the parade and scores of photographers. So many photographers, in fact, that it was sometimes hard to see the cause celebre.
I took a stroll to Times Square after the parade to see the topless ladies who take advantage of the law every day.
A few days after I photographed them, Mayor Bill De Blasio, responding to complaints that these topless ladies were harassing tourists
and defaming New York, sent in 100 police officers to bring things under control. Hopefully this is just one of those political tempest in a teapot
for from what I could see, the tourists were having a good time and the ladies prominently displayed their love of NY.
